默里·佩拉西亚(Murray Perahia),1947年4月19日出生于美国纽约的一个犹太人家庭。4岁时开始跟邻居家一位教授钢琴的老师学习钢琴,两年后跟随女钢琴老师简尼特·海恩学习钢琴11年,17岁时走上了一条被他称为“非常痛苦”的成才之路,两年后考入马斯奈音乐学院,师从著名波兰裔钢琴家巴尔萨姆,同时兼修作曲和指挥。21岁时师从著名钢琴教授霍尔绍夫斯基,1972年参加加里兹国际钢琴比赛并且问鼎。随后踏上演奏家生涯,被誉为继霍洛维兹、塞尔金、顾尔德等人之后的第一人。佩拉西亚被誉为当代最为抒情的钢琴诗人。他尤其擅长演奏浪漫乐派作曲家舒曼、门德尔松、肖邦和格里格等人的作品,并以其多样化的风格展现出非凡的才能和潜力。在演奏技巧方面,他驾轻就熟、得心应手,有键盘魔术师的美誉;而对作品的诠释,也因其多年的不懈努力而在音乐深度上表现出非同寻常的特点,广受各方好评。佩拉希亚的演奏曲目涵盖了上至巴赫、下至巴托克的各个时期中的钢琴经典之作。他四岁就开始学琴,有着坚韧不拔的毅力,长时期的刻苦学习使他奠定了应付各种技术难题的深厚功底,在演奏19世纪浪漫派某些作品技术艰难的段落中,给人以毫不费力的轻松感。在演奏协奏曲和室内乐等体裁方面,他最有心得,这两类作品占他唱片录音中的主要地位。由于他曾学过指挥专业,所以经常边弹琴边指挥乐队演奏莫扎特等人的协奏曲。海恩是他的第一个老师,1966年进纽约曼纳音乐学院师从巴尔萨姆,1968年拜霍尔绍夫斯基为师。1972年,佩拉西亚在“里兹国际钢琴比赛”上获得头奖,据当时的媒体报道,自初赛开始,佩拉西亚在演奏的技巧和准确度上优势并不大,但无论观众或评委显然都被他抒情幽雅的琴风所倾倒,以致他一路过关斩将击败包括席夫和内田光子在内的众多参赛高手,一举夺得桂冠。获奖使他从此开始了独奏生涯。1975年,佩拉西亚与年轻的大提琴家哈雷尔一起获得“第一届菲舍尔音乐表演奖”。随后,佩拉西亚辗转驰骋于欧美大陆,继而逐步扩展到世界各地,知名度迅速提高。而他一开始在比赛中体现出的特殊气质,也成为他艺术风格的重要标志。佩拉西亚技巧精湛,演奏以细腻见长,追求线条明快和在细微处的层次展示。他演奏的莫扎特协奏曲有极高的评价,对门德尔松的协奏曲他也是最好的演绎者。1991年,佩拉西亚遭遇手指受伤的困扰,在四年的养病期间,佩拉西亚潜心研读巴赫的音乐,在这些极度抽象的音乐世界里挖掘出了一片新天地。当最终病愈后,浴火重生的佩拉希亚录制了《亨德尔、斯卡拉蒂键盘作品集》,他藉着现代钢琴大胆地表现出千变万化的丰富音质,得到了世界乐坛的一致肯定。
